Theology and digitalization: anthropological and ethical challenges (J6-60105)
The project examines the impact of digitalisation and artificial intelligence on human identity, relationships, empathy, spirituality, and religious experience. At the centre of the research is the human person as an embodied, relational, and free being, together with the question of how contemporary technologies are reshaping our understanding of ourselves, others, and the world. The project brings together theology, philosophy, psychology, psychotherapy, communication studies, and computer science with the aim of developing a theological anthropology and ethics suited to the digital age. In addition to theoretical research, it also includes empirical studies of public attitudes toward artificial intelligence and the impact of conversational agents on empathy, interpersonal relationships, and the experience of fundamental existential questions.
